Before It Was A Trend

The Cocolicious Lip Scrub: Our First Product, Still a Best-Seller

The original coconut lip scrub, since 2015 — Cocolicious Luscious Lip Scrub

Every brand has a first product — the one everything else grows out of. For us, it was this: the Cocolicious Luscious Lip Scrub. Before the hair care, the eye serum, the deodorant, there was one small tub of coconut-sugar scrub. And it's still the one we're proudest of.

Where it began

We made the Cocolicious Lip Scrub in 2015 — our very first product. Lip scrubs weren't much of a shelf item back then; most people mixed sugar and oil at home or skipped the step entirely. So we set out to make one actually worth buying: gentle enough for the thin skin on your lips, and nice enough that you'd look forward to it. Coconut sugar to buff, jojoba and avocado oil to soften, a coconut scent you'd happily eat. That was the whole idea, and it has barely changed since.

Still a best-seller, a decade on

Here's the part that still gets us: all these years later, it isn't a nostalgia piece gathering dust — it's still one of the best-selling lip scrubs on Amazon. It went on to become a #1 best-seller there (About Amazon actually wrote up how a lip scrub from Singapore managed it), and more than 20,000 reviews later it's still doing the same job for the same reason. We didn't out-spend anyone to get there. The scrub just kept earning its spot, one recommendation at a time.

Why we've never changed it

We've been asked more than once whether we'd reformulate it, chase a trend, drop in a buzzier active. We haven't, and we won't. It does one thing beautifully — buffs away the dry, flaky bits so lips are smooth and ready for balm or colour — and there's no "upgrade" we'd trade the original for. Same formula, same jar, same one your friend keeps recommending.

The jar itself

The Cocolicious Luscious Lip Scrub (Coconut Sorbet) is a fine coconut-sugar scrub in a tub. The coconut sugar (sucrose) does the buffing and dissolves as you go, so it never turns harsh; jojoba and avocado oil soften and nourish in the same motion; glycerin and lecithin help hold on to moisture; a little vitamin E (tocopherol) rounds it off. Vegan, cruelty-free, naturally derived. Buff a pea-size amount onto damp lips two to three times a week, then seal it in with a balm or lip mask. There's a Matcha Latte one now too, if coconut isn't your flavour.

FAQ

Was this really your first product?
Yes — the Cocolicious Lip Scrub, launched in 2015, is the first thing we ever made, and the one the rest of the brand grew from.

Has the formula changed since then?
No. Coconut sugar, jojoba, avocado oil, sweet almond oil, glycerin, lecithin and vitamin E — the same recipe it launched with.

Why is it still so popular?
Honestly, word of mouth. It does its job, people leave reviews, and those reviews bring along the next person — which has kept it among the best-selling lip scrubs on Amazon for years.
